BÀI 20: CHUYÊN ĐỀ 4 – CÂU TƯỜNG THUẬT ( BUỔI 1 )

Có các loại chính sau: các câu được tường thuật phải ở dạng câu khẳng định dù ban đầu khi chưa được tường thuật nó có là câu hỏi thì cũng vậy.

I. Tường thuật 1 mệnh đề bình thường dạng khẳng định hoặc phủ định (có đầy đủ chủ – vị): chỉ việc lùi thì

Ví dụ:

1.She said: “I’m going to visit London tomorrow

  • She said that she was going to visit London the following day.

2. Tommy told me: “MY father works in a hospital”.

  • Tommy told me his father worked in a hospital.

3. My tutor said: “I won’t go to Sapa for my next holiday”

  • My tutor said that she would not go to Sapa for her following holiday.

II. Tường thuật câu hỏi: khi chuyển qua thì bắt đầu với việc dùng if/ whether lùi thì

Ví dụ:

1.My teacher asked me: “Did you finish your homework, Quang?

  • My teacher asked me if/ whether I had finished my homework

2. “Do you like chocolate ice cream?”, asked my close friend.

  • My close friend asked me if/ whether I liked chocolate ice cream.

3. “Does your younger sister go to school on Saturdays?”, asked my friend.

  • My friend asked me if/whether my younger sister went to school on Saturdays.

4. “Are you from Vietnam?”, asked a French.

  • A French asked me if/ whether I was from Vietnam.

5. “Have you had lunch yet?”, asked my mom.

  • My mom asked me if/ whether I had had lunch.

III. Tường thuật 1 mệnh đề đặc biệt (câu mệnh lệnh, cầu khiến): dùng to inf (nếu ý khẳng định) hoặc not to inf (nếu ý phủ định)

Ví dụ:

1.My mom told me: “remember to turn off the lights before you get out of your room, Quang”

  • My mom told me to remember to turn off the lights before I got out of my room.
  • My mom told me to turn off the lights before I got out of my room.

2. “Don’t turn left otherwise you will hit the wall”, my granny told me.

  • My granny told me not to turn left otherwise I would hit the wall.

3. “Try your best to study English, Quang”, said my mom.

  • My mom advised (khuyên) me to try your best to study English.

4. “Don’t play video games a lot. It’s not good for you, Quang. (my father, advise)

  • My father advised me not to play video games a lot. It wasn’t good for me.

5. “Can you tell me your name please?, asked the lady.

  • The lady asked me if/whether I could tell her my name.
  • The lady asked me to tell her my name.
